Susan Oakunsheyld, RMT

Susan Oakunsheyld, RMT

Susan followed her heart and received her training at the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy (OVCMT) to become a registered massage therapist (RMT). While raising two children and working, it became abundantly clear that she wanted to contribute to the health and well being of the people around her.

Susan’s preferred area of practice is myofascial release massage. Additionally she has trained in Visceral release, a myofascial release for internal organs.

Susan is also certified in Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage and Decongestive Therapy, trained in the Dr. Vodder School for Lymphedema. Vodder therapy is a type of massage used in manual lymph drainage and is combined with decongestive therapy to treat lymphedema, a condition often resulting from cancer treatment, mastectomy or surgery where the functioning of the Lymphatic System has been damaged.

Todd Broadhurst, RMT

Todd Broadhurst, RMT

After graduation from Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in 2003 I furthered my education by training in Systemic Deep Tissue Therapy (SDTT) under its founder Armond Ayaltin in North Vancouver. I use the techniques of SDTT and other modalities to help combat the negative effects of desk work that so many people are suffering from today. Back and neck pain, headaches, and repetitive strain injuries all respond well to the SDTT technique as do common motor vehicle accident injuries such as whiplash. Another niche of my practice is the treatment of new mothers, pre and post natal, to help them with their "toss & turn" nights, and the new aches and pains that come with pregnancy.

My lifelong involvement with competitive sports has given me a keen insight into the particular needs of athletes in all areas of their training. During my eight years at a busy multi-disciplinary clinic in Kelowna I was entrusted with the health and maintenance of several top NHL stars during their off seasons, as well as helping some of BC's Olympic athletes on their way to the 2010 winter games. Most recently I was invited to work with the Canadian Women's Olympic Hockey team while they trained in Penticton. For the past few years I have become involved in the local community with a sponsorship for our Roller Derby team The Penticton Pistoleras, and treat many triathletes who come here to train for their events. Whether it be treating acute and chronic injuries or injury prevention, I love working with all levels of athletes to keep them at the top of their physical and mental game.

Tree Kennedy, RMT

Tree first started her journey of nurturing and helping people by teaching Bollywood fusion dance. Her goal was to give people a safe space to express and challenge themselves through dance and movement.

After several years, Tree wanted to be able to offer more to those who found themselves in a yoga or dance class looking to improve mobility, recover from various joint dysfunction, or to maintain function as they aged.

That desire led to OVCMT in Vernon. There she rejoined the academic world and completed the Diploma of Massage Therapy program in 2018. Her education taught her how massage can offer help, healing, and health to all bodies.

Tree's massage practice takes a holistic approach that is rooted in evidence based techniques utilizing her education, as well as her years of dance and yoga practice. She understands that no two people are alike, and every body comes with its own history of strengths, challenges, and needs. Her goal is to meet people where they are at, and help them the best way she can with her knowledge and insight.
